About.

I'm Ashriya.

Counselling Psychologist.

Trying to make sense of ourselves becomes a little easier when we don’t have to do it alone.

Psychology has been a steady anchor for me for many years. Being able to sit with people as they try to make sense of their inner world and supporting them through moments of difficulty is work I care deeply about.

My work draws from contemporary approaches to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and a person-centred approach, always tailored to the individual rather than applied rigidly.

My practice is about understanding and wisely navigating our inner and outer worlds and how that can give us a measure of relief and create more choice and freedom in how we live. A bonus – It can help us become less insufferable for those around us.

There is space to think out loud, sit with uncertainty, and explore. You don’t need to know exactly what you want to work on before starting, that’s something we can figure out together.

My aim is to meet you with care and thoughtful attention, guided by strong ethical practice, so that together we can make sense of what feels difficult and move towards a life that feels more aligned.

My way of working has been shaped as much by life as by psychology.

Before training as a psychologist, I studied sociology and spent time travelling and conducting research in different communities across India. Later, I completed my MSc in the Psychology of Mental Health at the University of Edinburgh and went on to work in a psychiatric hospital in London.

Living abroad, working with immigrants, and navigating my own experience of being far from home gave me a deeper understanding of identity, belonging, loneliness, and change.

Alongside this, spiritual retreats and contemplative practices have taught me the value of slowing down, paying attention, and relating to ourselves with greater honesty and compassion.

These experiences continue to shape how I show up in the therapy room: with curiosity, warmth, and an appreciation that our struggles do not exist in isolation.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. Finding a therapist is a personal decision, and I'm glad our paths crossed, even if only through a webpage. If something here resonated with you, I'd be glad to hear from you.
